March 1984

Hey, Mark.

You’re looking at the model number.

April 1984

In the 1980’s
N = Jan
Z = Dec

First numeral digit in serial is the last digit of the year (198X)

Had this info on file. Hope it helps. Ray, wouldn’t it be Feb 1984 if th sequence for the 80’s would start with N-Jan, Q-Feb, R-Mar, etc. Mayb your seeing something I don’t.

Allan

Carrier, Bryant, Payne, Day & Night: Recently (last 20 years or so) the first four numbers in the serial number represent the week and year. Previously, it was a series of letters and single digits as explained below.

Through 1969, the first digit of the serial number indicates the year of manufacture. Example: 3xxxxxx = 1963, 4xxxxxx = 1964, etc.

1970 and later, a letter followed by a number indicates the month and year of manufacture. Example: A1 = January 1971, B1 = February 1971, C4 = March 1974 etc.

A = Jan
B = Feb
C = Mar
D = Apr
E = May
F = Jun
G = Jul
H = Aug
J = Sep
K = Oct
L = Nov
M = Dec

Hey, Mark.

You have to skip the letter O in order to make it work. Otherwise December is Y.

Why did you skip the letter P?

The unit looks in good shape for being 20 plus yrs old?

Yes, because of that protective cover off to the right side.

Ray,
It was late and I guess I’m not smarter then a 5th grader. Good catch.

I figured you were just prejudiced against peas. I didn’t like them when I was young, either. :margarit:

oops, long day.
