This white cloth gasket was found on an old forced air furnace. Any ideal if this could be an asbestos gasket? The furnace is an old Montgomery Wards unit.
Possible. Should be tested if concerned.
Or you could just throw it away and use something else.
That’s a somewhat improperly seated tape gasket. It’s refractory tape, also. Is part of it dangling into the furnace intake grille? I’d call that out, but it doesn’t look that old. It looks like either ceramic or fiberglass, but I can’t tell for sure from just a photo.
