Keeprite

Any Canadians out there have date codes on Keeprite products? Specifically furnaces.
Larry

I do, and I’m not even Canadian!

What do you need to know.

Russel
I need to know how their date coding works. I found out that the parent company is International Comfort Products and the trail ended there.
Thanks
Larry

There seem to be three different coding systems for Keeprite.

But first, model number KSSC is from the 1980s and model number KSSD is from the 1990s.

Then, using the following system:

S - 1970
T - 1971
U - 1972
V - 1973
W - 1974
X - 1975
Y - 1976
Z - 1977
A - 1978
B - 1979
C - 1980
D - 1981
E - 1982
F - 1983
G - 1984
H - 1985
J - 1986
K - 1987
L - 1988
M - 1989
N - 1990
O - 1991
P - 1992
Q - 1993
R - 1994

they are coded to the last letter of the first group of letters/digits (either the second or third character). For example:

Z3Z xxxx = 1977, ZX xxxx = 1975

However (you knew there would be a however, right? ), from 1980-1994, some used the first digit for the year and the next two digits for the week. For example, 305xxxxxxx = 1983, fifth week. However (another however  ), that could be 1983 or 1993, which is why you might need the model number. You might also be able to check the compressor date or gas valve date.

After 1994, they decided to conform to the rest of the world, i.e.:

L9437xxxx = Louisville plant, 1994, 37th week.

I think you are a Closeted Canadian RR:D

I could be.
I love my Canadian friends.

I thank you Russell. As usual you have come through.
