No Return

The gas furnace was in a hall closet with louvered door. There was no ductwork for return, only the filter with plenum placed at the top of the unit.

Exhaust was PVC, combustion air intake was inside same closet.

It seems to me the combustion air would be competing with the return air?

I don’t think this is allowed, just looking for verification.

RA should be ducted to the outside the furnace room/closet, or sealed into the door so that all RA is drawn through the door, not from inside the closet. As far as combustion air, it looks like a condensing furnace, see manufacturers installation instructions and check with AHJ.
