Rheem Heat Pump Age

I came across the heat pump below yesterday and want to make sure I’m reading the age of the unit correctly, because I was told that it was the original unit that was put in when the house was built in 1990. I see this unit as being manufactured in 2000, which means it had to have been a replacement unit.

Rheem, Model No. RPNJ-031JAZ, Serial No. 6158 M2100 18568

If it was a furnace it would be the 21 week of 2000. In the seral number the 4 numbers following the M are the week and year of mfg M2100. I will double check to see if that would be the same for the heat pump.

That’s what I have too.

Rheem & Rudd: in the middle of the serial number will be a letter “F” or “M” the following four numbers are the week and year.

Thanks. So it is obvious that this unit was replaced.

That sounds about right, same for an AC.
