Suspect Microbial Growth ?

 43 Cheshire 053.JPGCan you say GOT MOLD? View of today’s inspection. House was a foreclosure. Electric had been shut off for some period of time causing the sump pump to not operate. I excluded everything in the basement including mechanicals. I spent about 3 minutes in the basement and began feeling sick.
Talk about powerful stuff.

Three minutes is way too long to spend in there without a mask.

Keith:
William’s right. A quick glance, and reason enough to leave the premises. Having said that, it’s probably best when deferring to a specialist to refer to it not as “mold” but as a “mold-like substance,” although there’s little doubt as to what it is. (I once spent an evening and the early hours of the morning in an emergency room, due to something I’d disturbed under a house or in an attic. Never did learn what had affected me, but the doctors confirmed an allergic reaction to something nasty).

When you see something like this, evacuate immediately after you snap a picture or two for the records. Then at a minimum, go and wash your hands. You’d be surprised what’s floating in the air that’s not healthy for man or beast.
