Is a flex gas line ok in attic if is just laying on top of joist and covered up by blown in insulation?

It must be installed in accordance with the manufactures requirements. Most requirements are all the same. Here is one.

As you can see, there are more than one type of flex gas lines. A photo will help tremendously when asking questions. More often than not, other discrepancies will be revealed if we have a photo to gander at. I thought you might be referring to flexible “appliance” gas line, not CSST.
