Hot water heater flue issue

Home depot installed this hot water heater.
1/2" copper coming out of the TPR valve, not concerned about that but this is a gas fired water heater in a pantry off the kitchen and the flue shoots up at a pretty steep angle.
No less than 1/4" per foot rise but anyone know if the pipe can go up that fast?

Forget about it, picture is no good.

The rule in my (old) gas code book is no dips, so IMO, no problem.

Lets get the terminology correct. It is not a “hot water heater” it is a “Water heater”.

This is (was) a Hot Water Heater.
