Ice Machine Condensate Drain Line

Looking for codes or best practices on Ice Machine Condensate Drain Lines and their terminations directly connected to a nearby bar sink.

A new build had an ice machine with a clear condensate drain line coming from the rear of the machine through a finished cabinet and connecting directly to the drain of a small bar sink. My thought is there should be an air gap but can’t seem to find anything written on the topic. Can anyone cite a code or requirement? (Alabama)
Thanks

Follow the manufacturer installation requirements.

Needs an air gap IMO

If there is a sewer backup and the condensate line is connected directly to a drain what do you think will happen to that ice sitting in the bin. I would say that an indirect connection is required.
