is it a sump pump that’s not working?
As nasty as that looks, it could be a ‘lift station’. Either way… way too much wrong to even hazard a guess from a photo.
how should i write something like this up?
just something like “recommend contacting a licensed plumber for further evaluation of…”
Personally, I like to determine what it is I am looking at. Were you able to determine where the two pipes went to? Typically, one pipe would be sump, two pipes would be lift station, or sump with radon… but could be anything without more details.
If undetermined, say so… and refer to plumber for evaluation AND ANY NECESSARY REPAIRS.
