Teflon tape on gas connector

Ok - no teflon tape on natural gas connections, got that. I found this LPG connector with yellow (gas resistant) tape. Is this ok?

I think ,Yellow yes white no

Yes. The yellow tape (often improperly referred to as Teflon® tape) is listed for use with natural-gas and LPG.

Excellent - thank you both.

Yep! Yellow is alright for gas that is tight.
White is alright for plumbing that is right.

What are you? A parrot?

The new blue sealing tape used by many contractors around here is Polytetrafluoroethylene and works with propane and natural gas pipe fittings.

The real teflon:

Nope. Just a Canadian.

Teflon® isn’t a thing — it’s a brand! A world famous brand that’s owned by DuPont.

• The DuPont™ Teflon® brand identifies products that are made with DuPont raw material(s), like fluoropolymer or industrial coatings. Over time, the tape has been mistakenly referred to as “Teflon tape”. We thought it was important to let you know that.

• If somebody offers to sell you “Teflon tape” when you need plumber tape (or thread seal tape), they are wrong, mistaken or — worse — trying to mislead you. To help you make an informed purchase, you should be aware that no plumber tape is authorized by DuPont to be sold as “Teflon tape”.

• DuPont has brought thousands of meaningful innovations to people for more than 200 years, including many Teflon® branded products for consumers. Plumber tape is not one of these innovations.

Teflon® is a registered trademark of DuPont.

so any report using the brand name Teflon® when referring to plumber tape is incorrect regardless of the color or purpose

this could be the lynchpin if an issue ever arose

happy reporting…

It has been proven that it is better to expand on something you need to remember as a safety code or application.
I just put it this way so those that are new could remember it easily.
I also learned this in The Natural Gas and Propane Installation code class along with many other ways to remember important safety issues.
Gas is always** YELLOW** AND** OIL** is always orange.
