Underground Propane Tank

Hey guys so I had my first underground propane tank at a home yesterday and I was wondering if there is any specific maintenance advice, precautions, warnings or anything at all I should share with my client and also learn myself. The home was built in 2008 everything worked really well and was clean looking but obviously its an underground tank that I can’t see so I want to be sure to help my client as much as possible while also covering my own ***. Any advice would be awesome thanks guys!!

I don’t know where your located so I don’t what your climate is. Here in Utah we are dry so we install a 3/4" pvc down to the sacrificial anodes so the home owner can wet them down if needed, and it marks their location so they can be easily found and replaced and needed. Maybe point that out to your client if you see pvc sticking out of the ground.

Also, let them know most lpg companies recommend the regulators be replaced every 15 years.

awesome thanks guys

Great points everyone. I work out of Mexico and contrary to what some people may think - there are regulations as well. My point that I would share is that:
"No matter where you are ~ we are honor (and legally) bound to follow laws and ordinances that bind us to specific local regulations" - HOWEVER…
This does not prevent me from enlightening the customer to what conditions are present. For example - does it appear that someone buried an above ground tank, etc.
My personal sales point is “I’m not a Deal Killer - whether you are the Seller or Buyer, you still get the same report”. We are the educators and are held to a higher standard. Again, great points everyone and best of luck to you Aaron Scheuerer.
