Columns in basement, causing unlevel floors on main floor above, columns and shims , no visible cracks at time of inspection, but visibly noticeable in floors when walked across, would you recommend that steel jack post replace the wooden columns, possibly leveling floors and causing cracks ?
house built in '75

I would recommend a general contractor Repair or replace as needed the faulty support posts in the basement .
To specify what they should use could cause you some difficulty if you are wrong .
