This photo was taken in the crawlspace of a 20 year old foundation. The crawl was dry with a few spots of efflorensce, and water stains only.
As you can see there are no mortar joints. The walls were plumb and no signs of distress.
I assume that the hollow core has been filled with grouting in lieu of mortar joints?
Can’t ever remember seeing a foundation constructed in this manner.
Thanks,

Were they ‘hollow’?
I remember hearing about dry stacked block, filled with rebar and concrete. For a clean finish, and solid design.

Thomas,
They were hollow, then filled with concrete.
