Excessive Notching

Ya think the plumbers knew anything about structural integrity??

Is this from a draw?

It was an “Estimate to Complete” inspection on a defaulted construction loan. They stripped all the copper, whirlpool tub and HVAC units before they could get it boarded up. West side of Chicago. Obama supporters.:stuck_out_tongue:

Ooooh what’s the big deal - nail plates will hold that together for the next 50 years! :stuck_out_tongue: :stuck_out_tongue:

Notcher normal way to do it, I reckon.

You’re actually allowed to completely remove the top or bottom plate, as long as the appropriate mending plate with the correct number of nails is used on each side. The studs are a problem.

nothing like a really good plumber…

The masons were good too. Brick/block = same thing. But I think maybe we should have used a bigger lintel. Lintel above garage door is failing.

Linas, I wonder how many of these things go unreported or detected and get covered over.

I guess no one of these builders have seen this or do not care.

Marcel

Good link Marcel. I observed some settlement due to the notching. Too late.
