Can someone help me evaluate this wooden post crack? How bad is it? The house is only 1 year old new construction. Thank you in advance!!
It is not a problem from what I can see.
The crack is called “checking”.
Google “checking on wood posts”, and look at the images.
You’re good. It’s not going anywhere. Just reaching equilibrium with it’s environment.
It’s entirely normal. Checking cracks occur as the wood dries out.
