For my first writing assignment I chose garages. The big thing I learned from this article is that trusses can not be altered unless okayed by a structural engineer. It is important to look at all the connection that could lead to any structural issues and report them. The last thing to look for is that the electrical receptacles are all GFCI-protected.
My second article is on deck receptacles. It’ not recommend that you call this out as a defect however, inspectors can recommend that receptacles be installed as a safety measure. The reason for this code is to avoid the use of extension cords. Extension codes cause 3,300 fire a year.
