BINGO!

You got it!

I can defend the answers if need be, but not today. I got some post holes and framing going on.

I'll get back later with some explanations to the answers.

PM me your address so I can send the coffee. Ground or beans?

Glad to see you Roy, I was sure you would get it, anyway, you keep it interesting. I also know you have a stronger framing background than me, my thing was remodeling old houses.

Questions and answers

1. When installing a deck ledger to a home’s cantilever you should (2 answers) [CD]

a. Use 6” lag bolts in a W pattern
b. A combination of lag bolts and joist hangers
c. Approved footings under the ledger
d. Extend joists into the home

C & D-These are the only way I could find where you could build a deck onto a cantilever as well as a method where you span the cantilever but because this is only done for small cantilevers I didn't consider it. Here is a link to a Rueben Saltzman article on deck cantilevers. [
URL="https://structuretech1.com/the-problem-with-attaching-a-deck-to-a-cantilevered-floor/"]Deck Cantilever[/URL]

2. Beam continuity is maintained by [C]

a. Using steel straps to tie dimensional together
b. Using ½” bolts staggered in a W pattern to bolt dimensional lumber together
c. By staggering end joints of adjacent plies
d. All of the above

Beam continuity is mentioned here.
Beam continuity.

3. The distance deck joists can safely cantilever or overhang a drop beam is determined by the [A]

a. Size of the joists
b. Size of the joist hangers
c. Nailing pattern
d. All of the above

Only the width of the joist determines load.

4. One or more of the concerns for deck cantilevers is [C]

a. Beam deflection
b. Deck vibration
c. Deck uplift
d. All of the above

Deck uplift is the only right answer. Vibration and beam deflection are not related to cantilevers.
Deck uplift
