lumber dating using codes?

I’m trying to figure out the date of the 2x4’s in my basement. Is this possible? I have few codes here, stud, NLGA, S-P-F, KD-HT, 394-2, logo from the quebec forest industry council. Any help would be greatly appreciated…

That code has to do with the lumbers grading and does contain a date code. Look around for other stamps.

No. Doubtful this can be done.

Count the rings. Sheesh.

Use the rings to do a dendrochonological analysis, not only will it tell you when the tree was cut down, it will also tell you where it grew. I am sure that any University botany or archaelogical faculty would be very pleased to do that for you. Universities pride themselves on their public service.
