We have a diamond pattern leaded window (not safety glass) that we wish to retain, but devise a way to meet safety regulations. If we place a tempered double glazed layer in front of the leaded glass (for a total of three panes of glass now), would this unit be considered safety glass? Another option would be to slide the leaded glass between the two panes of tempered glass…would that work?
Essentially what I’m asking is: do all glass layers have to be safety/tempered for the unit to be considered safety glass? And if not, where does the non-safety layer need to be for the unit to be considered safety glass?
Thanks for your help!
