I’m a home owners doing my own roof and need suggestions on how to finish laying shingles at the top to cover the metal valley.
My situation is different from most as the top butts up to a metal stovepipe. I can’t find any examples of this scenario online or on YouTube to help me decide how to proceed.
Mainly, I want to know do roofers just cover over the open hole in the center or do they tar that W so no water can find a way in? It has to be tarred around the base of the pipe and I’m thinking I’ll just tar that valley top closed, and cover with my last two rows of shingles.
I have pictures but can’t see a way to attach them here.
Thanks so much for some advice and if you tell me how, I could send clear pics on my valley.
