Good Day John

Is this something that is offered in Canada?

Lawrence

Yes, the Certified Infrared Trainiing will be offered any where in north America, on site, if at least 8 people can confirm… (US & Canada)

It will be offered live through toll free teleconference training, to a persons home, as long as 3 people can confirm.

Same price for everyone. Each person will be educated, tested and must demonstrate that they can use the camera and issue a report in order to complete the training. (no camera is required to take the course, but they will have to own one to issue a sample report within a max of 6 months)

Gosh after 6 plus years in this business I’m missing out on something big here, not to mention i’m dreading the thought of another summer of 140 degree attics.

I’m sure I can qualify to provide a certificiation for measuring insulation in attics, also am able to complete a couple hrs internet research on any other topic, and offer any other certificiations anybody may need.

Besides paying nickie 289.00, What do I have to qualify, and what verificiations do I need to become a CMI approved school, and get free marketing from nickey…??

Well a great start would to be for you to respect our members and our leader of NACHI.
If you where to do that you might see we are a great group who try and help all people.

How does this work? 8 hours on a teleconference for 2 days? What kind of certification do we get?

Cool, I haven’t met an AZ nacho inspector that I don’t respect, question their business decisions, that’s another story.

Yes… for those who select to do the teleconference, instead of on-site training, the course will be via phone conference for two days - 16hrs. Each student will have the education material in front of them and will be instructed each step of the way.

The certification can be found here http:www.infraredcertified.com Our course is approved by interNACHI for the new IC certification logo. The course will shortly be approved for by one state for licensed inspector continuing education (CE units). A shorter version of the course is already approved in IL. More will be added.

Several Infrared training courses teach a class called building science and issue a certification that their course has been completed. This will be the same thing.

When you concentrate a class to meet the needs of only the home inspector, it can be done with a shorter class. By making this class available via the phone and making it shorter, it will enable many people to save enough money to get the training they need to upgrade their company with an IR camera.

Level I, II, & III certifications have never been geared ONLY for home inspectors. I took the FLIR-ITC building science course and it contained more for inspectors, but still had a lot of stuff that most inspectors would never need (how to apply power sprayers to windows that are set up to certain standard in order to find leaks in windows,… etc…)

The other classes run about $1300 to $1800 per course, plus travel expenses and loss of days during the work week. My class will be available during weekends and will cost a fraction of the cost. So there is a potential savings of thousands of dollars once you factor it all together. This is a huge benefit for a lot of inspectors who are ready to upgrade to Thermal Imaging and need training.

I am already getting people lined up for the first class. BTW… there is a $50 discount for those who take the first class…

I personally have talked to Level II, and III thermographers who told me that even with all their training with the IR camera they would not be able to use the camera for home inspections, because there is WAY too much information about building systems and structures that they do not know about. This course is geared only for inspectors and cannot be compared to anything else. It is intended to get the inspector up to speed and being able to understand thermal images, operate the IR camera, issue reports, marketing and learning about liability issues. You will not be disappointed.

The short version (first draft) of this course is already approved in Illinois, Wisconsin and Indiana, where HI lisensing is required. It was also taught at last year’s NACHI convention.

I am working with John to expand the original, incorporate more Building Science, expand a bit on the physics (IR, Thermodynamics, Hygric Buffer Capacity), re-orient what is typical Level I and II training into home and building (light commercial) inspection specific topics and generally make the entire 16 hours more relavent to HIs.

There will also be an entire sections devoted to defect recognition using Thermal Imaging and how to report, Image analysis and interpretation, as well as marketing, camera choices, liability management and just the general “how do I do it” kind of issues.

The course is in four 4 hour parts:

  1. Introduction to Thermal Imaging

  2. Introduction to Building Science

  3. Thermal Imaging for Home Inspectors

  4. Interpretation, reporting, marketing

There will be many quizes and tests and a requirement for the student to present a complete inspection report, and have it critiqued (to be turned in within a period of time after the class is completed).

John and I will be taking this on the road, available for all iNaCHI Chapters and other iNACHI members.

Hope this helps;

I took the FLIR level one course and it cost me $1,749;00 plus travel and Hotel rooms for 3.5 days .
It taught a lot about all the FLIR Cameras and how IR worked and how to read what you see.
Almost nothing on Home Inspections and not enough on their Computer program…
My Bcam s/d cost me $7,698.42 .
I do feel I need more training and practice .
I also did the FLIR free course 3 times on line before I went to Class.
They had people learning how to use Cameras from my cost up too
$35,00;00 or more dollars.
Our teacher told me he thought only about 5% of those who bought a camera took a course.
I expect many where in industry and had their own in house courses .
So what is the difference with NACHI also having our own in house training .
It works exceptionally well with our many courses.
The difference is those in other association’s and some of our own members that are so jealous of NACHI they continue to ridicule those who constantly help to make NACHI the best Home Inspection association there is.
Thanks to all who support NACHI

Will Decker is an incredible asset to InterNACHI as a whole and many members individually. Keep up the good work Will.

Dan, a brain may help.

Just paying it forward.

Hope this helps;

I think I have one.

Mine works differntly when I see posts stating, prior to using Infrared professional training is a must, only to see a post a few weeks later that the same people, after 6 months of experience are now the professionals qualified to provide IR certified training:roll:

The true knowelgable IR professionals should have a field day with this reprensation of their profession, in the sceem of things, that’s a good thing, if the self proclamed IR wannta be’s are now focusing on IR certificiations, the home inspection profession can get a rest from the instant certificiation BS for a day or so.

John -

Congrats and good luck!

Count me as one who is interested. The length of time, cost and not needing to travel all make this much more appealing than the other options out there.

Are you considering doing a session with the conference? Either during or just before/after? I would be interested in any of those options if they become available.

I have several people already signed up for a live teleconference training course. Email me if you would like to get in on the first class. It is forming right now. There is a $50 break for those who do the first teleconference class. Email me at… info@texas-inspection.com

I had several Level II and Level III Thermographers tell me they could NOT use the IR camera to inspect a house… even after taking the building science course they said they were still lost. Why? … They are very qualified expert IR specialist in their field, but not as a home inspector. The IR camera does not take that long to learn how to use, it is becoming a good home inspector that takes so long.
