FannieMae HomeStyle Energy mortgage loan requires borrower to get a Home Energy Score

FannieMae HomeStyle Energy mortgage loan requires the borrower to get a Home Energy Score.

The FannieMae loan is designed to help lenders offer financing for homeowners to increase home energy efficiency and reduce utility costs. Borrowers can finance energy-efficient upgrades when purchasing or refinancing a home. For a borrower to receive more than $3,500 for weatherization, water-efficiency, or other energy related improvement, the lender will work with the borrower to obtain a home energy report. The Home Energy Score is recognized by FannieMae.

InterNACHI U.S. members can become Home Energy Score Assessors (free & online for members).

Good news.

Wow… the tide is rising on this.

This may be good but here’s my experience.

The loan officers don’t know how to fill out the paperwork and these things go south.
Too soon to tell if this is going to stay. Fact is it will be part of future loans but I’m not sure if the method to score will remain.

I’m watching this one.
