Price on older Bcam?

An inspector in my area is retiring and selling a Flir BCAM he purchased new in 2007, last calibrated in 2011. It looks to be in good shape. I’m thinking of picking it up if the price is right. He told me to make him an offer, what should I offer him?

Average Ebay sold price less 10%. This would be a good start.

Model Number ?

With prices on cameras dropping and technology improving, I’d say as little as possible. Not to be unfair, just that once you start using this technology… you may just keep this one as a backup anyway.

Is it a B40/50/60 ? Would make a difference to know features… could be worth $700 or so up to maybe $2000. I only say that as I can buy a B60 with warranty from Flir for $3500… why would I want to pay more than half if out of warranty etc.

Having said that… you could buy a closeout / compare prices here http://store.flir.com/category/building or on Ebay.

FWIW, a B2 with 1 year warranty is around $1500 and a $120 multimeter included.

If you post some more info about the Camera, I’m sure others will chime in.

Its a B40

Donald… I don’t want to steer you in wrong direction. I see that a currently calibrated one sold on Ebay for $3K

I suppose you could ask Flir what a calibration costs for the camera and deduct from there and also to try to weigh in on what you’d spend on older tech vs new tech… etc.

Whether a BCam needs current calibration for HI purposes is another conversation… qualitative vs quantitative etc

The BCam that came out in 2007 sold new for $4995, that was my first thermal imager. I sold it about 3 years ago on E-bay for $1200. You shouldn’t pay more than $800 for it today.

I was going to suggest he offer $1000, and negotiate from there depending on what HE feels it is worth.

Got an email yesterday from FLIR, you might want to check it out.
