Truss tie downs a gable end walls

When a small gable section intersects a larger gable section the trusses are facing the gable wall. Do these trusses need to be connected to the top plate with a clip or strap?

Note the straps attached periodically to the gable wall

All typical gable or hip roofs are subject to uplift by wind and should be tied down where the trusses or rafters are attached to the wall. That perforated metal strap is not rated for structural use so in my opinion that section of roof shown in your picture in not tied down. I would suggest you look at the Simpson-StrongTie catalog and become familiar with the various tie-down brackets designed for this purpose.

The form state’s that they have to be attached to the rafter/truss so looking at the pic’s I would say they mark other or unknown and supply the pic’s and let the underwriters figure it out.
