Inspection & Writing Assignment:

The attached picture is of an improperly installed dishwasher. The dishwasher unit tips forward when the bottom rack is pulled out putting weight towards the front of the unit. When inspected the dishwasher did run through a normal operating cycle as intended and without leaks, but when opened the unit tipped forward. Dishwashers are supposed to be securely installed which this one is not. Recommend the dishwasher be mounted properly by a qualified technician.

Inspection & Writing Assignment:

The range for this home was an electric 240v. It had a dedicated 40 amp breaker, the 240v circuit was not grounded. The range was an General Electric model, manufactured in 1999. At the time of inspection it it appeared to work as intended. There was no floor bracing which may pose a tip-over safety concern to children.

Research & Writing Assignment:

I read the article on Bathroom exhausts. The article explained how a smooth-surfaced duct such as galvanized sheet metal or PVC should be used, and is all current code allows for. The article informed that if flex lines are used they should be made as straight as possible to avoid ridges which will increase air resistance. Also, If bends are necessary, gradual bends are preferred to 90-degree bends to improve flow and reduce noise.

Inspection & Writing Assignment:

This is an electric range that doesn't have anti tip brackets installed. This is a problem as most manufactures require them.
The problem that arises with missing anti tip brackets is most often with children. They can use the door as a step up to the counter and then the range can topple over onto them.

Research & Writing Assignment:

Pool alarms are not necessarily required but they are a good idea.
Often the casualties of pool incidents are children that have entered the pool area. Unknown to the caregiver.
If you have a permanently installed pool alarm. It can alert you to movement in the water. Which may prevent this issue.
