This thread is dedicated exclusively for those students currently enrolled in the InterNACHI online video course titled, “Inspecting the Means of Egress.”
Upon successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:
- inspect the means of egress in a residential property, including stairways, ramps, exterior egress balconies, hallways, doors, and emergency escape and rescue openings;
- identify defects and safety hazards in relation to modern standards and requirements; and
- write narratives for an inspection report related to the means of egress.
This is not a code compliance course. There are many codes, and they change regularly. This level of inspection is far beyond what an inspector would do on a general home inspection and far exceeds the International Residential Standards of Practice for Performing a General Home Inspection.
And, in keeping with InterNACHI’s commitment to Continuing Education, this course is open and free to all members, and can be taken again and again, without limit.
Students are free to pose questions and comments here and join in the conversation with other students. The thread will be monitored by the course instructor.
