Did Porch buy ISN?
Porch has invested in ISN and does have some ownership. The partnership between ISN and Porch allows our inspection company business owners and inspectors to benefit from additional software engineering resources to add and improve ISN features. Specific details about the agreement between the two private companies will remain confidential.

So the terms are secret. If Porch is over 50%, the TOS could change on their whim. That is the only question that matters at this point. By virtue of ownership, do Dan and Chris still have absolute control or does ISN? Until that question is answered, trust will never be complete.

I've heard enough. I'm gone.

I'll make my own system, it won't have all of the bells and whistles that isn't has but it will work for me.

The only programs outside of my company that I will use are NACHI and HIP, and that is until I am proven that I shouldn't use one or the other.

This is the new ISN Privacy Policy that all ISN users had to agree to on August 4, 2017. There is one change in it from the old policy and that is on page 3, the "Merger, Sale or Bankruptcy" paragraph. Read it: https://www.nachi.org/documents2012/...acy-Policy.pdf

So all ISN users recently (last month) agreed (albeit unwittingly) that ISN could transfer information if ISN was purchased.

This is why I believe Porch.com purchased ISN.

I'm waiting for Dan to come here and announce otherwise. I'd love to be wrong.
So, by "your information" do they mean your clients' information as well?

I did see your post on this Chuck and I'm sure that we can retrieve our data, my point is that they already have a copy of that data and there is no way that they won't use it.

So here is how I see it

  1. ISN is profiting from the access/use of our data
  2. Porch is using our client information to earn revenue
  3. ISN is charging us for this service
  4. Porch is providing some type of perceived benefit or product that our clients most likely don't care about, want, understand or will use. (just like HON, Homebinder, etc)
We the home inspectors are receiving nothing in return.

If you want to use our data
  1. Give us the option to opt in as the overwhelming majority of ISN users want.
  2. If we choose to use their "free" products and allow the use of our data we should receive something in return (free or lower ISN fees)
  3. Or charge us a small fee to those who choose to offer this service. to their clients but do not want their information being used for marketing or promotion of other services.

Finally I don't remember receiving and email or request to sign or approve a new/revised users agreement from ISN.

You didn't receive one. The user agreement is on the isn site and states that by using their system you agree to the agreement, you are supposed to read the agreement every time you use the site to make sure it hasn't changed...or at least look at the date on the agreement for the last time the agreement has been modified.

Nice huh?
