Re: Stair stringer cracked. How to repair?

Remove screw from tread, inject polyurethane liquid nails, clamp and secure sides of split, refasten tread. Or for purists, replace stringer.

Re: Roof Disclaimer

The very first year I moved to Florida, we had 1" of snow in Tampa Bay (mid 70's). Haven't seen it since.

Re: Feed to subpanel

That's a violation right there. That feed should be off of a double pole breaker.

edit: Unless there is a service disconnect before that tap that is sized for both feeds to the sub panels.

Re: Roof Disclaimer

Re: Feed to subpanel

I doubt those are listed for that use. The bigger question is where those tapped lines go?

Re: Feed to subpanel

More information and bigger photo needed. Doesn't look like that would be approved.

Re: Metal dormer installation?

DIY project. I would call that possible wind borne debris. Needs to be called out for replacement.

Re: Home Depot ad for using their electricians

 Now that we have taken this entire ad photo apart, I think HD is trying to sell materials, not workmanship or aliens.

Re: Is ASTM-E330 approved for Miami-Dade & Broward Counties

ASTM -E330 is design pressure standards (wind load). If impact resistant, the rating label will reflect that. If in the HVHZ, the door should be rated for both wind and impact.

Re: Home Depot ad for using their electricians

There are no violations that I can see. He's not done yet. EGC needs to be bonded to the box...that's about it.

Not sure why he would be installing a receptacle before drywall though.

Re: Piers not plumb..Yep! And more!

I rarely see plumb pilings on a stilt home. The beam divergence is a new one though. How old is this, and was there any deflection observed?

Re: Dutch Hip Roof Discounts and Wind Resistance

The horizontal measurement of each Dutch gable are non-hip, which count against the total perimeter. Most of the time it is a close call for a Dutch Hip roof. This needs to be properly assessed for...

Re: Looking for info from someone in Port Richey

The mobile home must be titled as real estate to trigger a foundation cert for a FHA, VA, or conventional loan. Otherwise it is personal property and a Chattel loan is needed. I am not sure if a...

Re: Looking for info from someone in Port Richey

I have never heard of one needed for a lot rented mobile home...only real property transactions. I may be wrong though.

Re: Looking for info from someone in Port Richey

Most parks are rental parks, where the lot is rented and you own the mobile home. In other words these are not real estate properties and there are no property taxes, just lot rent. That area is a...

Re: Looking for info from someone in Port Richey

Port Richey has some good parts and mostly lower income parts. Several MH parks and this one is close to US 19 with plenty of shopping. A roofover is just a second roof covering over the original...

Re: Wind mit - roof is original and built in 1997 or later

NO. The 1997 reference in "B" is for homes built in 1997 or later with the original roof covering (INSIDE the HVHZ and no permit needed for verification). As I said before, the only way to get a 1998...
