Service equipment in 6 separate panels?

I'm going through the NHIE exam manual and it says that the service equipment may be located in up to 6 separate panels and the NEC does not require that they be located together.

I don't...

Do you operate old, operable skylights?

Photo by Burt Hull in Tennessee.
What are the dark spots on shingles on the side of the roof that still has some frost on it? If it's roof cement from hand-sealing shingles, it should be under the...

Re: Stucco Identifaction

Good choice, David! If you have to ask, disclaim it. Confirming proper installation requires the skill to visually identify each system and know its manufacturer's installation recommendations, which...

Re: Walk this tile roof with me

I don't have a problem with standing a ladder on a lower roof as long as it can be done safely.

Be sure to take the roof inspection video courses, not just the written course.

Re: Posi Traction Rear end

Re: Do you comment on electroplated flashing/hangers used with pressure treated wood?

WOW, Rick... floating homes! I spent some time down where you're at and went through a floating home inspection and looked at a lot of others. I actually talked to the local building inspector who...

Re: RIP John McKenna

John was a nice guy. He had not been in good health for a number of years and a variety of ailments coalesced to a degree that John's body could not overcome. John's work contributed to making the...

Re: Do you comment on electroplated flashing/hangers used with pressure treated wood?

Well Roy, this post isn't an attempt to influence how inspectors perform their inspections, but more to get an idea of what a lot of practicing home inspectors think about this issue. What I do is my...

Re: Do you comment on electroplated flashing/hangers used with pressure treated wood?

Why are so many people afraid to participate in a poll? The poll is anonymous! No one is going to call anyone out for clicking on the poll!

Re: Do you comment on electroplated flashing/hangers used with pressure treated wood?

It's not really "how they're manufactured", it's really about identifying materials that are chemically incompatible and when in contact with each other will degrade more rapidly than if proper...

Do you comment on electroplated flashing/hangers used with pressure treated wood?

Thinking primarily of decks here...
Wood that was pressure treated after 2003 uses chemicals more corrosive than the old pressure treating method and electroplated or aluminum joist...

Re: Concrete Scaling - Question

Reactive aggregate can also cause problems, although it's usually visible as popouts directly above aggregate that have very little concrete cover. Popouts are usually little sloped-sided craters...
