Cast iron is used in new construction all the time and I see it in 200 year old buildings that there is no problem with. When I find problems it looks like rusting through and split pipes.

the picture is blurry so no way to identify the wire, but its not old knob and tube. Where did it go to and from. There was no K&T being installed in the 60s.
