Can you tell me about this wall structure?

House built 1903. Walls are comprised of vertical 2x6 spaced 24 inches apart. Pieces of bricks in between the 2x6. What can you tell me about this type of wall construction? See photos!

I'm hoping InterNACHI inspectors are not being misled by HomeAdvisor's questionable marketing scheme. Apparently, with HomeAdvisor you are only paying for a lead, not for a confirmed inspection....

Probably more accurate to say that 70000 people have registered to the message board. They would not all be inspectors.
