Re: Surprise, another Flushmate recall

Might be a rumor, but I heard that these power flush units can suck the innards right out of you if you flush it while sitting on it.

Re: Downspouts emptying on lower roof.

Curious, how in the world do you know this? Do you check up on all your inspection issues you find?

Re: Solar dome on roof

Roofing tar application is a nice touch. It needs removed from the bottom of flashing. Was the duct insulated?

Re: My article on inspecting brick. Mistakes? Additional info?

The brick having weep holes at the bottom statement should just be removed. Better chance of seeing bigfoot than weep holes around here.

Re: Any former HomeHubZone users switched to Spectora

There was visible moisture staining and potential mold present.
Location: Attic. Dining room ceiling. East and west garage walls.

Something like that.

Re: Stack n Tack stone veneer siding

Yeah, but if the lick and stick stuff all has to get ripped off or installed how it should be, the costs should even out ;-)

Stack n Tack stone veneer siding

Pretty slick. Not sure about cost comparisons, but this stuff looks like it would solve a lot of the installation issues. YouTube (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2u2FhEt5AQM)

Re: Foundation/Crawl Space Vent Clearance

Don't think there is one. Common sense applies though. If too close, add a vent/window well.

Re: New article: Inspecting for Foundation Damage from Expansive Soils.

I'm not exactly sure on the validity of that map. NW Ohio is well-known for clay soil.

Re: Electrical contractor could not understand why tandems were not allowed

Pretty simple...panel label missing and couldn't verify panel manufacturer requirements. It's possible defects exist that could not be confirmed due to this. Have an electrician... blah, blah, blah.

Re: Leaking Well valve??

Roy's right, pics not loading or "blowing up" for some reason? Anyway, looks like a leaky pressure relief valve to me...very common.

Re: Boiler

That tag looks older than 92... do you have a picture of the boiler itself?
FWIW, I find it amusing sometimes how inspectors get so infatuated with date codes in determining the age of units,...

Re: Smoke detectors

I hardly ever see a house that incorporates the proper placement or prescence of smoke detectors and or CO detectors. Would that stop me from buying a house or making a big deal about it? Lol, heck...
