Re: Forgot my golf shoes

Not yet. Still keep getting phone calls.

My HOA area has to install these anchors so roofers can inspect the roof every year to keep up our annual warranty. Now the gutter cleaners will not...

Re: Forgot my golf shoes

For those of you who walk roofs, better find another way to do them.

Re: Alabama HB312

You can never, and in many states that have licensing, do a proper home inspection without state wide building codes. IRC must be implemented in every county of your state, and state inspections...

Re: We Are Making More progress In Maryland For Radon Testing

After our radon laws were passed here in Kansas, many HI's had to farm out the testing to radon testing specialists, because it was no longer cost effective. Many radon testers here only charge $75....

Re: InterNACHI sues ASHI's Executive Director Frank Lesh for lying about our members.

Its been a year now that I have been retired. I still get dozens of phone calls from REA's wanting me to do home inspections, because these REA's cannot find a good inspector, even though these new...

Re: How do you supply/store reports?

None of the above listed. I use CD's. Old school, but more secure. last forever, and no worry about failures. Using separate hard drives, cloud services, separate computers are very susceptible to...

Re: Crooked Inspector Gets Called Out By News Reporter

These "news" articles are often placed into the media by the real estate people themselves, to help prove their point that licensing is needed.

Remember that any state licensing is a basic, bare...

Re: Congressional Shooter Was a Home Inspector

Every real estate agent needs to know whom they recommend for a home inspector to their clients. I have long advocated for every real estate agent to recommend a Certified Master Inspector.

Why...

Re: InterNACHI in the news: Home Inspections are #1 Real Estate Deal Killer.

It is the house that kills the deal: not the inspection. Agents are pushing these sub-par properties onto unsuspecting home buyers, and when home buyers wise up to getting a home inspection, walk...

Re: Reduce liability by offering mold testing and taking a photo.

It always does, whether or not you win or lose. Attorneys do not care how any complaint ends up, because all of them get paid, both sides, for any reason. As Nick stated, over 90% of lawsuits and...

Re: Reduce liability by offering mold testing and taking a photo.

I was involved in a major local mold lawsuit in 2005 here locally. I was to blame as I did not alert to the home buyer that mold was present. Even though my reports and agreement stated that I did...

Re: Realtors, home inspectors, and home warranties..

Reasons why REA's hire the cheapest inspector, or cheapest trades person they can find, because they are the most venerable. REA's want, and do, control every aspect of the transaction. If they use...

Re: Disclosure and Inspection: Are You Truly Protecting Yourself or Your Client?

Agents know how to play the game. They created it. What they do not know will not hurt them. Most agent associations sell homes as is anyway, which covers them. If defects are found after move-in,...

Re: Reduce liability by offering mold testing and taking a photo.

Molds can be found in any home or any outside air. To properly test a home for mold, you should test the outside air and the inside air. I was involved in such a court case in 2003. Since there are...

Re: Accepting Credit/Debit card payment???

I always took checks or cash only. If the client has to use a credit card to pay for the inspection, he/she should not be purchasing a home, IMO. I looked in to taking debit/credit cards, but fees...

Re: Questionable Request from Client

Snowflakes believing this stuff. World is coming to an end. Sad for these young people trying to start a business. No wonder why 50% of college grads are still living at home.

Re: Class Action lawsuit against HomeAdvisor.

I feel somewhat sorry for the telemarketers who are forced to solicit contractors and trades persons of all types to extort money for the monitary gain of their corporate company. A sweat shop if I...

Re: Virginia Licensing for general home inspections and new construction

Dan, that is also one reason why licensing gets implemented. HI's themselves quote things (code issues) that they know nothing about, trying to impress buyers and then also find and dictate "defects"...

Re: California Association of REALTORs position on home inspection associations.

It all depends upon how much money the HI or their franchise companies donate to the office for "advertising" or "marketing" or "free prizes for their meetings".

Re: Vacant Properties and the Home Inspector

Every home inspector should read Roy's comments. Claims are a virus that is spreading rampantly. Even when you are not served, sued, or threatened by a lawsuit, you can be pulled into one. Give every...

Re: Closing summary when inspection has been completed.

There should always be another person with you on every inspection. The buyers' agent, or the buyer themselves. For your own personal liability reasons, which are many.
