Home Inspection
Training Day

Join us for the Home Inspection Training Day at InterNACHI's Pennsylvania House of Horrors®. Similar to a ride-along inspection, you'll follow a Certified Master Inspector® through the House of Horrors®. Students will learn how to perform a home inspection and note them on a report. You'll utilize home inspections tools to inspect the defects you spot. You'll train with and advance your skills in performing home inspections and finding all of the defects at InterNACHI's Pennsylvania House of Horrors®.
During the training, you'll:

perform an inspection of the House of Horrors®;

learn how to spot defects;

understand why they are defects;

utilize inspection tools, such as GFCI testers;

learn how to write an inspection report;

create a mock inspection report using a checklist provided; and

Advanced Electrical Inspection Training

Want to learn how residential electrical service has evolved? From knob-and-tube wiring with fuses to today's standard 200-amp Square D panel, you'll see examples of the different types of wiring used and the common defects you'll find in homes at the Pennsylvania House of Horrors®.
Follow the instructors as they perform inspections of mock-up panels and components. After completing this training, you'll be able to inspect a typical electrical panel out in the field and identify common electrical violations, defects, and concerns.
The Certified Professional Inspector® who completes this training will be considered an InterNACHI® Certified Electrical Inspector.

Certified Residential Mold Inspector & Assessment Training

During this one-day class, you will learn how to perform an inspection of a residential plumbing system in the House of Horrors®. We'll cover water leaks, inadequate water supplies, water contamination, and incorrect installation of components. You will also identify components of the plumbing system, and learn how to describe these defects to clients.

2-Day Roof Inspection Training

During this class, you'll expand your skills and learn how to: inspect different types of residential roofs; identify the systems and components of roofs; understand how the components of a roof system function and perform; describe to clients the defects you observed at the roof system; and verify that the installation of the roof covering and underlayment follows common building practices or the general recommendations of most roof covering manufacturers.

Upon successful completion of the training at the House of Horrors®, the student will be able to identify the different types of wells, perform a proper water test, check the well's meter and interpret the results, understand static water testing and what it tells you about the well, report to clients the defects you observed in the well system during your inspection, identify health and safety hazards in the well system, and understand the importance of well water quality and safety. You will inspect a mock-up functioning well system under controlled conditions in a hands-on classroom setting.
The Certified Professional Inspector® who completes this training will be considered an InterNACHI® Advanced Certified Well Inspector.

Infrared Thermography Training for Home Inspectors

During this two-day class, you'll perform an inspection of the InterNACHI® House of Horrors® using infrared thermography technology, and identify and describe common problems that may be discovered with the use of thermal imaging. You'll learn how to use an infrared camera to detect thermal patterns caused by defects, energy loss, water problems, moisture intrusion, and building envelope deficiencies.
