Home Inspector Licensing Law

New Mexico Home Inspector Licensing Law. The effective date of the provisions of this act is January 1, 2020. There are be training and exam requirements. 
 
 
 
 

To Become a Certified Home Inspector

To become an InterNACHI Certified Home Inspector and attain the Certified Professional Inspector CPI® designation, complete the home inspector certification requirements. The training, exam, and certification are all online and free for members.

Insurance for Inspectors​

Although New Mexico doesn’t have requirements regarding insurance for home inspectors, many local real estate boards and home inspector business franchises require their affiliate members to meet certain coverage standards. New Mexico Department of Agriculture approves InterNACHI's free, online Wood-Destroying Organism Inspection Course for Continuing Education.

Home Energy Inspector Certification (online & free)

 
Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification is free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training needed.
 
 
 
 

Radon Tester Certification in New Mexico (online & free) 

       
Though New Mexico does not regulate or enforce individuals who perform radon testing, measurement, and mitigation the New Mexico Environment Department recommends hiring a Certified Radon Tester who has completed a radon measurement training certification course approved by AARST-NRPP or NRSB.  Visit the New Mexico website for details. 
 
NRPP:
InterNACHI's free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provide Course" is AARST-NRPP approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. To complete all components of the NRPP Radon Certification, please visit their site for more information.

Roof Data Technician (free for members)

  
The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHI and Owens Corning and Lowe's, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process. (This program is operational in the United States only.) Participate in the InterNACHI/Owens Corning Roof Data Technician Program.
