Fireplace and Chimney Inspection for Home Inspectors

This two-day training will provide the student with valuable insights into the inspection of chimneys and fireplaces, including masonry and factory-built versions.

Topics will include: the history of fireplace and chimney construction, and how those standards have changed; general code and NFPA requirements; how to evaluate these structures for performance, maintenance and safety; and how to report findings, including how to disclaim hidden defects.

Jerry Isenhour

About the Instructor

In a career that has spanned more than 30 years, Jerry Isenhour has served as the president of chimney industry trade groups and educational foundations. His research into the failure of masonry products and systems from high-temperature events has been referenced by The Journal of Forensic Engineers. He is a recognized expert in the thermodynamics of venting systems, as well as the analysis of performance issues and air quality solutions. Jerry operates CVC Coaching.
