All Tennessee Home Inspectors Must Be Licensed by July 1st.
The "Tennessee Home Inspection Licensing Act of 2005" requires all Tennessee
home inspectors to be licensed by July 1st to inspect one to four unit residential
properties, No exceptions , No grandfathering.
For those inspectors who do not meet the educational prelicense exemption, American
Academy of Home Inspection, AAOHI, has structured an innovative AAOHI "60/30",
90-Hour Prelicense course. The first section of the course is 60 hours of classroom
instruction taught over 6 days from Monday through Saturday covering the technical
skills of home inspection taught by an approved, professional and experienced
home inspector. In addition, AAOHI has included four on site home inspections
in this 60 hour section. Then students complete the other 30 hours of the 90
hours by home study/book correspondence covering state law, marketing and business
practices.
For those students not able to attend class, AAOHI offers a complete 90 Hour
Home Inspection Prelicense online course. Since online courses do not offer any
actual on site ho9me inspections, AAOHI online students can register for optional
on site home inspections as well.
To better prepare Tennessee home inspection license applicants to pass the state
license examination the first time, AAOHI offers a new Home Study "Crash Course"
which includes the "Tennessee Home Inspection Licensing Act of 2005" law and the
book "Home Inspection EXAM PREP" with 1500 practice problems.
InterNACHI members are offered a special $75 off the regular AAOHI "60/30" 90 hour
prelicense course fee, but in order to receive this special price, they must identify
themselves as InterNACHI members at the time of registration.
