This meeting is going
to be eye opening!
What is the first thing you do when you look at the
chimney? Are you inspecting from the
ground, the roof edge or do you go on the roof itself?
What steps do you take if you can’t get on
the roof?
How many times have you looked at the chimney either from
the roof edge or from the ground and think it is ok? Only to find out that the brick is spalling
or mortar is missing.
Have you gone on the roof and looked at the flashing and
said it is ok only to find out that it leaks!
Do you ever open the chimney clean out? Do you even know what it is?
What about the fireplace.
Do you look inside to see if the firebrick is cracked? Is the box grouted to the front or can you
see insulation or a gap between the box and the front metal frame?
Do you recommend cleaning?
