Indoor Environmental Standard Organization's (IESO) Certified Mold Inspector Course

 

NAETI sponsored by Pickering Environmental Consultants, Inc. will be offering the Indoor Environmental Standard Organization’s (IESO) Certified Residential Mold Inspector (CRMI) Program on May 11-12, 2005 (Wednesday-Thursday) in Memphis, Tennessee.  InterNACHI members are invited to participate.

The purpose of the CRMI Program is to train and certify inspectors to perform mold inspections in compliance with IESO assessment standard 2210.
This program provides you with the ability to screen for mold and thus, notify for your client(s) whether they are in need of a more detailed mold/microbial investigation. Save your clients time and money!

The purpose of this course is to provide specific information regarding mold-related issues and safe work practices for workers and occupants.

The training includes information on many topics including: Prevention, Identification of Moisture and Water Problems, Remediation Methods and Work Practices (Including Hands-on), Personal Protective Equipment and Mold-Related Guidelines.

This course is designed for individuals with little or no experience with mold operations and maintenance. It will provide information to those who operate an in-house remediation plan and respond to mold and moisture situations in buildings.

IESO Certified Residential Mold Inspector (CRMI) Program and InterNACHI member discount:

Overview

NETI, an approved training provider for IESO, offers relevant mold inspector training to the IESO Standards of Practice. The purpose of the 2-Day Certified Residential Mold Inspector (CRMI) Program is to train and certify inspectors to perform mold inspections in compliance with IESO assessment standard 2210. This certification is specific to the IESO Assessment Standards of Practice.
 
The Standards of Practice were developed and adopted by a diverse advisory board including representatives from the Indoor Air Quality consulting industry and IAQ trade associations, as well as input from the home inspection, industrial hygiene, insurance, real estate and legal communities.
 
NETI provides hands on training with sampling equipment and administers the IESO exam. Students will receive a Student Kit including the IESO Standards of Practice, an IESO Student Workbook (Microsoft PowerPoint notes, exercises, sample data and forms) and IESO Student Lab Kit (including 1 Air-O-Cell Cassette, 1 cyclex-dä Cassette, 2 tape lift kits, and 2 swab kits with Labels).

Continuing Education Credits
 
The CRMI course is approved for Continuing Education Credits for the following associations:
  • International Association of Certified Home Inspectors (InterNACHI) - 16 continuing education hours  
  • National Association of Home Inspectors (NAHI) - 16 CEU's
  • The Texas Association of Real Estate Inspectors (TAREI) - 14 CE Credits
  • American Board of Industrial Hygiene (ABIH) - 2 CM Points
  • California Real Estate Inspection Association (CREIA) - 14 CEC's applied for

The inspection standards are limited to ruling out significant mold contamination or referring investigations to qualified professionals. Students are taught that only qualified professionals should perform a full IAQ investigation or remediation procedures.

Registering for a class with NETI does not register you for the CRMI exam which is required for certification. IESO Recertification Program

IESO requires that all Certified Residential Mold Inspectors (CRMI) must have Continuing Education (CE) credits to maintain CRMI certification. To fulfill the certification renewal requirement, all CRMI members must have 16 CE credits for each two-year period following certification. Credits will be calculated on a one (1) credit per class hour basis. Any program accepted by a major IAQ or Home Inspection Organization will be accepted for IESO CE credit. This includes, but is not limited to courses offered by AmIAQ Council, InterNACHI, ASHI, NAHI, CREIA, TAREI or IAQA. Certification renewal is based on when the CRMI exam was passed.
