Is InterNACHI's pre-licensing course approved?

Yes. InterNACHI® is approved by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (iPLA) and the Indiana Home Inspector Licensing Board to provide a free, online pre-licensing course for home inspectors to become licensed. The course is online and free for members. Not a member? Join InterNACHI®.  

To become an Indiana-licensed home inspector, you must:

Are InterNACHI's online continuing education courses approved by the licensing board?

Yes. InterNACHI® is approved by nterNACHI® is approved by the Indiana Professional Licensing Agency (iPLA) and the Indiana Home Inspector Licensing Board to provide free, online Continuing Education (CE) to licensed home inspectors. The CE courses are free and online for members. Not a member? Join InterNACHI®. 

32 hours are required for each renewal cycle that is more than 24 months. For inspectors who have had their license for more than 12 months but less than 24, 16 hours of CE are required. For inspectors who have had their license for less than 12 months, no CE is required. 

Update 7/22/2026: Certificates of completion now have their corresponding category number displayed on them.

Are InterNACHI's courses approved by statute as well?

Aside from the Indiana Home Inspector Licensing Board approving InterNACHI's courses, InterNACHI courses are also approved by statute.

On the bottom of page 16 you will find the following:

Under "Continuing Education"  Sec. 0.5  (1) (A) it states that continuing education has to be approved by an "approved organization" or the board.  Note the word "or."  

InterNACHI is an approved organization by statute.  Near the bottom of page 16 you will find the following definitions of "approved organization:" 

There are 10 types of "approved organizations." Under #6, an approved organization can be "A college or other teaching institution accredited by the United States Department of Education". InterNACHI is approved by the U.S. Department of Education. See www.internachi.edu  InterNACHI is the only school in the inspection industry approved by the U.S. Department of Education.  Thus, InterNACHI's courses are approved for continuing education by statute.

Are InterNACHI's courses accredited by other agencies?
