Home Inspectors: InterNACHI Needs Your Help to Fight the NHIE

Dear Home Inspector,

InterNACHI is researching a potential lawsuit against the administrators of the National Home Inspector Examination, or NHIE.  InterNACHI believes that the NHIE is a flawed exam that doesn't accurately test inspector competency, especially compared to InterNACHI’s Online Inspector Exam

InterNACHI’s Online Inspector Exam actually guides test-takers with feedback on their weak areas, as well as their strengths, in order to help them improve.  It's also free, open to everyone (even non-members), and is available to be taken over and over again without limit, 24/7.

However, there may be a legal issue as to whether InterNACHI has legal standing to sue, or whether InterNACHI suffered any economic damages.  Therefore, we are asking inspectors to assign their potential claims to InterNACHI in order to help InterNACHI avoid such legal problems if and when it files suit.

Below is an Assignment document (as a downloadable PDF).  Here’s what we’re asking:

  1. If you failed to pass the NHIE, print off the Assignment, and sign it in front of a notary public.

  2. Then, make a copy of your signed Assignment to keep for your own records, and snail-mail THE ORIGINAL NOTARIZED DOCUMENT (NOT THE COPY) to InterNACHI’s General Counsel at:

Also, InterNACHI would be most grateful if you’d take a few moments to send an email summarizing your experiences with the NHIE.  Email Nick Gromicko at fastreply@internachi.org or our Legal Department at legal@internachi.org.
