HOW TO CONDUCT A SUCCESSFUL CHAPTER MEETING
Your chapter meeting depends upon your leadership. Your vision for the chapter will take your chapter in that direction. If you anticipate a great chapter meeting, you will have a great chapter meeting. If you can’t wait until the chapter meeting is over, then your chapter meeting will indicate this feeling and the meeting will not be successful. Always approach the chapter meetings with excitement and a positive attitude. The same goes for your board of directors.
Always start your meetings off on a positive note. Here’s a few pointers to use.
- Welcome everyone (regardless of there being three or thirty people in your meeting)
- Recognize all first-time visitors and special guests.
- If you have an American flag present, invite someone to lead the pledge.
- Present any chapter business and news.
- Discuss the Stupid Questions from the “Stupid Question Box”. Allow the group to answer. Make this fun and non-discriminating.
- Allow your department heads to say something from their departments.
- Have your education director introduce the speaker(s).
- After the speaker has finished, allow for Q&A time if needed.
- Thank your speaker for coming and allow the group to give their applause.
- Announce your next meeting date, time, and special speaker.
- Thank everyone again for coming and dismiss them.
