Flat Roof Installation: EPDM Membrane (Ballasted)

EPDM is a single-ply membrane that has outstanding resistance to deterioration from heat, ozone, and weather.
Compared to other systems used for similar purposes, EPDM performs especially well in cold weather. EPDM may
be installed in multiple ways. One installation method is ballasted, in which an aggregate is installed on top of the
membrane and the membrane is held in place by the weight of the ballast. The advantage of ballast is that it
allows expansion and contraction of the membrane. Always refer to the specific manufacturer’s installation guide
for reference.
