Louisiana Approves InterNACHI's Free Online Home Inspector Pre-Licensing and Continuing Education Courses


Licensing Training (online & free to members):

InterNACHI is approved by the Louisiana State Board of Home Inspectors as an online pre-licensing course provider for home inspectors. InterNACHI is listed as a Louisiana-approved Pre-Licensing provider (online). 
 
 
90 hours of online pre-licensing courses is approved.
InterNACHI's online curriculum is approved by the Louisiana Board to fulfill the 90 hours of required instruction and training. 40 hours of live training:
30 hours of in-field training and 10 live home inspections are further required by Louisiana to become a licensed home inspector in Louisiana. Presently InterNACHI does NOT have an approved training provider in Louisiana to provide the live training.  Visit http://www.lsbhi.state.la.us/licensed.php#field
Details about the 90, 30, and 10 hours of training requirements:
InterNACHI’s Louisiana home inspector licensing education, training and testing standards as set by Title 46 Louisiana Professional and Occupational Standards for Home Inspectors follows:
90 Hours
Ninety hours of the required instruction and training shall consist of classroom hours of home inspection course work approved by the board. You can fulfill the 90-hour requirement by taking InterNACHI's online courses.  See courses below. 
30 Hours

Thirty hours of the required instruction and training shall consist of in-field platform training from a certified infield trainer approved by the board.  Visit http://www.lsbhi.state.la.us/licensed.php#field

10 Hours
Ten hours of the required instruction and training shall consist of attending 10 live home inspections with a qualified infield trainer at a residential structure where a fee is paid and a report is provided to a client.  You can find a trainer for the 30 hours of in-field and 10 hours of live inspections at Louisiana's website.
In Addition
In addition to completion of the 130 hours of home inspection instruction and in-field training, the applicant shall also attend the report writing seminar conducted on behalf of the board and pass the board approved examination of the Standards of Practice and Code of Ethics.

Continuing Education (online & free to members):

Each applicant for renewal of a license shall annually complete at least twenty (20) hours of instruction in courses approved by the board.

Each student that successfully completes the pre-licensing training must email lisa@internachi.org to submit the following documents to Louisiana:
 
 

Online Licensing & CE Courses (free to members):

The following list of online courses is approved for both Continuing Education and Pre-Licensing. In relation to Pre-Licensing, the combination of the online courses will fulfill 90-hour training requirement for licensing.
 
  1. 4 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Safe Practices for the Home Inspector course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  2. 5 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online 25 Standards Every Inspector Should Know course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  3. 8 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Residential Plumbing Inspection course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  4. 4 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Residential Electrical Inspection course (free), including all quizzes within, and pass its final exam.
  5. 4 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Roofing Inspection course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  6. 12 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online HVAC Inspection course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  7. 4 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Structural Issues course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  8. 16 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Exterior Inspection course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  9. 4 hours: Completer InterNACHI's online Communication and Customer Service for Inspectors course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  10. 14 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Attic, Insulation, Ventilation and Interior course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  11. 3 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Deck Inspections course (free), including all the quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  12. 8 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Moisture Intrusion Inspection course (free), including all the quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  13. 3 hours: Complete InterNACHI's online Inspecting Foundation Walls and Piers course (free), including all quizzes within and pass its final exam.
  14. 8 hour: Complete InterNACHI's online Defect Recognition/Report Writing Tutorial course (free).
Total 90 Hours
 

Business Marketing (free to members):

InterNACHI's Marketing Team will design a new logo for your inspection business or re-design your existing logo, and design and customize your business cards, flyers and brochures. It's all for free.
