If you have never performed any fee-paid home inspections, you must submit four written reports from mock (or simulated) home inspections to InterNACHI's Report Review Committee. This is a free membership benefit. This is also certification requirement Step #5 for members who have never performed a fee-paid home inspection.
Home Inspection Checklists

Step #1:

  • Perform four mock -- or simulated -- home inspections. A mock inspection is performed for no fee and according to InterNACHI's Home Inspection Standards of Practice. The inspection could be performed on your own home, a friend's home, another inspector's home, etc. We estimate that it will require eight hours of work to perform one simulated inspection and writing an inspection report.

Step #2:

  • Write a home inspection report based on each mock inspection. You may use software, our free Inspection Checklist (see below), or your own checklist. The reports must be written in English.

Step #3:

InterNACHI's Report Review Committee will:

  • quickly review the mock inspection reports;
  • check them for substantial adherence to the Standards of Practice for Performing a General Home Inspection; and
  • make suggestions for improvements, if deemed necessary. Typically, if you use inspection software or a checklist that covers the systems and components noted in the Standards of Practice, your inspection report review will be quick and simple.
There is no charge for this service.
