Home Inspection Training & Certification for Veterans
To help provide continuing support for veterans of the U.S. Armed Forces, InterNACHI® is now offering half-price memberships to current non-members who qualify.
Many states have adopted InterNACHI’s Standards of Practice for Performing a General Home Inspection, have approved our certification courses as meeting state licensure requirements, and have approved our courses for Continuing Education requirements.
Members and veterans of the following U.S. Armed Forces are eligible:
- Army
- Navy
- Air Force
- Marines
- National Guard (including the units of each U.S. state and the territories of Guam, the Virgin Islands, Puerto Rico, and the District of Columbia)
- Coast Guard

Q: What are the requirements to maintain my certification?
To maintain your certification, you must:
- substantially adhere to the InterNACHI® Standards of Practice or the standard required by law in your jurisdiction;
- abide by the InterNACHI® Code of Ethics;
- continue learning (24 hours per year) per InterNACHI's Continuing Education Policy;
- maintain your online member Continuing Education Log; and
- every three years, pass InterNACHI's Online Inspector Examination (free), with a score of 80 or better.
Q: How long will it take me to become certified?
The length of time it will take you to become certified will depend on your existing knowledge, aptitude, and the amount of time you spend studying. Finding a mentor is helpful.
Q: Will InterNACHI® provide me with a job as an inspector?
No. InterNACHI® is a training and certification organization. Our goal is to help you learn the skills you need to establish, operate, and grow your own business, or to find work as an employee with an existing inspection firm.
Q: Will going into business as a home inspector be expensive?
