How to Become a Certified Home Inspector in Arizona

AZBTR

The Arizona State Board of Technical Registration (AZBTR) requires applicants for home inspector certification to (a) complete 87 hours of training, (b) pass a national home inspector exam, and (c) complete 30 parallel inspections with a certified home inspector.  Visit the AZBTR website for details.
 
(a). According to R4-30-247 of the Arizona Administrative Code (page 8), an applicant must show evidence of successful completion of 84 hours of classroom training or an equivalent course conducted by an educational facility accredited by an accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education.  InterNACHI® School is accredited by ACCET, an accrediting agency approved by the U.S. Department of Education. The Arizona State Board of Technical Registration requires that students submit a transcript to the AZBTR for determination of approval. Students must request this transcript from the Education Department
 
(b). To help practice or prepare for the state exam, you may take InterNACHI's Online Home Inspector Exam (free and open to everyone), take the InterNACHI® Ultimate Home Inspection Practice Test (free and online for members), and take InterNACHI's accredited online courses (free and online for members). 
 
(c). Contact an InterNACHI Mentor who is an AZ-certified home inspector or search for an AZ-certified home inspector

Radon Tester Certification in Arizona (online & free)

     


 
 The Arizona Radiation Regulatory Agency (ARRA) does not regulate or certify radon testers or mitigation specialists; however, they do recommend hiring a Certified Radon Tester who has completed a radon measurement training certification course approved by AARST-NRPP,  NRSB, or WRRTC.  Visit the Arizona website for details
 
NRPP:
InterNACHI's free, online Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course  is AARST-NRPP-approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. To complete all components of the NRPP Radon Certification, please visit their site for more information.  
 
NRSB:
InterNACHI's free, online Radon Measurement Professional Initial Training Course is NRSB-approved for initial certification. For those looking for NRSB continuing education, members should take the free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provider" course.
 



Wood Destroying Organism Inspection (free & online)


 
The Arizona Department of Agriculture that pest inspections be completed using their WIIR form. Inspectors filling out this form must be licensed with the Arizona Department of Agriculture. Visit the state website for more information.
