Home Inspector Licensing

New Mexico Home Inspector Licensing Law. The effective date of the provisions of this act is January 1, 2020. There are training and exam requirements, as well as other requirements related to fees, background checks, and prior home inspection experience.  InterNACHI® member and Certified Master Inspector® Jeff Gorum has been appointed to the newly formed five-member home inspector licensing board for the State of New Mexico. To Become a Certified Home Inspector

To become an InterNACHI® Certified Home Inspector and attain the Certified Professional Inspector (CPI)® designation, complete the home inspector certification requirements. The training, exam, and certification are all online and free for members.

Insurance for Inspectors​
With the new licensing requirements, the State of New Mexico will require home inspectors to carry E&O insurance. InterNACHI® members are eligible for discounts and enhanced insurance coverage. Visit nachi.org/insurance for information and to receive a free quote.
 

Continuing Education (online & free for members)

Home Energy Inspector Certification (online & free)

 
Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification is free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training needed.
 

Radon Tester Certification in New Mexico (online & free) 

       
Although New Mexico does not regulate individuals who perform radon testing, measurement or mitigation, the New Mexico Environment Department recommends hiring a Certified Radon Tester who has completed a radon measurement training certification course approved by AARST-NRPP or NRSB.  Visit the New Mexico website for details.

InterNACHI's free, online "Advanced Radon Measurement Service Provide Course" is AARST-NRPP- approved for both initial certification and Continuing Education. To complete all components of the NRPP Radon Certification, please visit their site for more information.

Roof Data Technician (free for members)

  
The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHIOwens Corning and Lowe's, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process.
