Home Inspector Licensing:

To become a licensed home inspector in Indiana, you must:
  • complete an IPLA-approved pre-licensing training course (online & free for members);
  • complete 12 hours of practical in-field training with an approved instructor (for a fee);
  • pass the course's 250-question final exam (online & free for members); and
  • pass the state exam.

Home Inspector Continuing Education (online & free for members):

InterNACHI is an iPLA-approved CE Provider #CE21300005.

32 hours are required for each renewal cycle that is more than 24 months. For inspectors who have had their license for more than 12 months but less than 24, 16 hours of CE are required. For inspectors who have had their license for less than 12 months, no CE is required. 
Category I is defined as continuing education that is formal programming, which includes instruction in one (1) of the following areas (all of which can be covered by the online courses listed at

How to Join InterNACHI 


Real Estate Cards (free for members):

Indiana-licensed real estate agents can attain free Continuing Education credits by following the directions on the real estate cards. Members can hand out these cards to real estate agents, which explain how to log into the free courses.
When an agent logs into a course and enters the member's ID number, the member is automatically emailed. The first slide of the course is the member's contact information. 

Insurance for Inspectors

To be a licensed home inspector in Indiana, individuals must meet certain requirements for adequate insurance coverage. InterNACHI members are eligible for discounts and enhanced coverage. Visit for information on how to sign up.

Radon Tester Certification in Indiana (online & free for members):

The Indiana State Department of Health requires an individual, prior to obtaining an Indiana Radon Professional license, to take certification training approved by NRPP or NRSB.  Visit the Indiana website for details.

Home Energy Inspector Certification (online & free for members):

Become a Certified Home Energy Inspector. The online training and certification is free for members. No infrared, no blower door, and no additional training needed.

Wood Destroying Organisms (online and free for members):

 The Office of Indiana State Chemist requires that inspections for wood destroying organisms be conducted by a certified professional. For more information on becoming certified as a WDI inspector, visit the State Chemist's website.
InterNACHI's Wood Destroying Organism Inspection Course is approved for 5 Continuing Credit Hours for the WDI inspector license.

Roof Data Technician (free for members to participate):

The Roof Data Technician Program, developed by InterNACHI and Owens Corning and Lowe's, provides an additional revenue stream for InterNACHI members who are hired by Owens Corning as part of a roof warranty claim resolution process.
